The Queenstown Region |
QUEENSTOWN, NEW ZEALAND 25-29 April 2001
With the magic of the Remarkables mountain range mirrored in Lake Wakatipu, the Millennium Hotel in Queenstown is the base for the 2001 New Zealand Sign and Display Association Conference, Annual General Meeting and the fifth annual New Zealand Sign and Display Awards.

It is located just a ten minute stroll from the city centre and 8 kms from the Queenstown airport.
All rooms are fully airconditioned and equipped with colour TV, movie link entertainment system, refrigerator, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, direct dial telephone, personalised voice mail, individual safes, iron and ironing boards, hair dryers and electric blankets.
A healthily discounted room rate is offered to all delegates. An extra discount of $10 per night is offered to those booking and paying early.
The Kiwa Kiwa restaurant and the Club Bar are the Millennium’s meeting points.
Plan on the thrill of a lifetime as Saturday is given over to waterborne pleasures which include the adrenalin pumping Shotover jet boat ride up the canyons to a Bar-B-Que brunch, and the more sedate pace of the vintage steam ship TSS Earnslaw, which takes us out on Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak for an evening cruise and dinner.
One of the more surprising discoveries for many visitors to the Queenstown region is the sight of lush vineyards clinging to the sides of the valleys.
Bring your taste buds and your credit cards as the wineries from the Queenstown region are now producing some of the most distinctive wines that reflect the clean, clear mountain environment in which they are produced.
Queenstown will have you bursting with excitement and wondering how you will manage to fit everything you want to do into a busy schedule. Perhaps you should be considering spending a day or two longer in town!

Make a point of bringing your camera or video as the spectacular scenery and the unique region of Queenstown will provide you with happy memories for many years to come.
The lake cruise will allow you to appreciate the stunning surroundings of this tranquil region. But if you fancy some of the adventure activities you could consider any number of other attractions.
There’s hot air ballooning, off-road 4 wheel drive treks, tandem sky diving, whitewater rafting, guided mountain walks, scenic helicopter flights, fixed wing trips to the snow peaks, the Skyline luge and of course A J Hackett’s bungy jumping off of various high points around the area.
If something quieter is your desire check out the casino, or there’s numerous restaurants and wine bars. There’s even a cigar bar where aficionados of the distinctive taste and smell of fine tobacco can relax in an area where smoking is encouraged and savoured.
If you’ve brought the family along with you consider Stuart Landsborough’s Puzzling World with its tumbling towers, tilted house, puzzle centre, hologram hall and 3D maze.
Also on the list of quiet things to do is trout spotting, the classic car museum, fishing, garden tours, ice skating and horse trekking. You could even take the gondola to the top of the Skyline and take in the awesome views from the summit. Oh, and did I mention the shops? Queenstown has every conceivable type of shop and a host of specialist souvenir centres.
Anyway you look at it, the NZSDA Conference for 2001 is going to be a real beaut - make sure that you are very much part of it.
