THE 10th ANNIVERSARY OF LETTERHEADS IN NEW ZEALAND

November 9 - 11

Field Sign Company
Auckland
New Zealand

Sixty three Letterheads registered to participate in the tenth staging of the event in New Zealand and headed to the workshop where it all started in Auckland at Marua Road, Ellerslie and Chris Field's signshop. As with the first event, Chris had lined up an impressive array of projects and raw materials so that people could drift between workshops and try their hand at numerous skills.

The major difference in this year's event was the participation of eighteen Australian guests which included a huge contingent from the Jordan family who, apart from taking a bit of a break in the land of the long white cloud, were acknowledging the start of the 'Goldfathers' apprenticeship on the 11th of November 1943. Paul Jordan assumed the mantle of his father and, assisted by Jeff Harvey, took the gilding class which featured much comedy, camaraderie and red wine in honour of the Master Craftsman himself. It was great to see so many make the trip across the ditch.

Rather than rattle on about what everyone got up to, (or denied getting up to, or had photographs taken of them doing it, or what rumours did the rounds afterwards or ........well you get the picture) we'll let the photos do the talking and just say thanks to all who participated, to the sponsors, Total Supply, Signwriters Supplies, Mulford Plastics, Plywood City, Roland DG, Jenrite NZ, Resene Paints, Colour Works, Computaleta Services, Digital Vision, Cock and Bull Tavern and the Maungakiekie Community Board, to the hosts, Chris Field and the staff of the Field Sign Company. All that remains now is to summon all Letterheads together in celebration of the craft next year in Oamaru when our host will be Maurice Ireland..
