PLEASE REGISTER
BEFORE THE END OF SEPTEMBER
Everybody attending Letterheads is to
create their version of the Letterheads logo or a piece
of artwork to display. Approx 600mm x 500mm. This is
your entry ticket. Prizes will be awarded at the Saturday
night function.
Paul Jordan and Jeff Harvey will once again fascinate
you with the old school gold leaf project. This is a
look at a bygone era with secrets and tips that have
taken hundreds of years to perfect. Numbers are limited.
Register early.
Watch and learn some fascinating airbrush work with
Dean Johnstone and others. Watch them create artwork
to inspire.
Have a go at basic screen printing. Bring along your
own T-shirt and print from a Letterheads screen that
is provided.
We have a horse drawn carriage to pinstripe and scroll.
Sign projects for the Oamaru Livery Stable and Forge,
The Oamaru Steam and Rail Society and The Oamaru Ordinary
Cycle Club. All of which operate of out Oamaru’s
Historic Precinct. A great place to display signage
of a bygone era.
We have a professional stone carving tutor, Darynie
Jones, on hand to inform you of the characteristics
and the history of the stone. Create your own masterpiece
from this world famous limestone to take home.
There is the Kiwi Signdogs panel for the apprentices
to signwrite and for everybody to sign.
Alex Burnett will be on hand to display his casting
and moulding techniques to create letters and effects.
Also paint effects that will amaze.
The pinstripe race track is back and everyone is to
have a crack at this. A great opportunity for first
timers to see how it’s done.
It would greatly help the planning if registrations
could be in Maurice's hands before the end of September.
(We wouldn't want you ending up with a T shirt that's
three sizes too small - would we now?)
If you are planning on coming to Oamaru and this year's
Letterheads event, there's something you need to understand,
Oamaru generally has a decent amount of accommodation
available unless there's lots of things all happening
at the same time, which on this occasion there is!
What happens then is that what accommodation is available
fills really, really quickly, so there's a need to get
your accommodation sorted as soon as humanly possible
- we kid you not!!
Right, there are three motels that are
within easy walking distance of the M J Ireland sign
shop in Ribble Street. They are;

It must be stressed that there is plenty of accommodation
in Oamaru, BUT it is imperative to book your accommodation
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE or risk sleeping
with the penguins.
The tourist season starts around August/September and
these motels WILL FILL. All four motels in this area
usually have no vacancy signs out all the time.
